What a wonderful event at Women & Children First Bookstore last night. I was honored to be in conversation with Linda Bubon, former owner of W&CF, and she and I enjoyed one another’s company at dinner (at Andie’s, a few doors down) and “on stage” with a full house of beautiful people, some good friends, some new friends, and some whom I hadn’t seen in decades. Thank you, everyone who came out.
Sheryl Johnston, publicist extraordinaire, ordered a big beautiful carrot cake with the cover of the book on it. (That makes two Waters cakes, thank you Patti McNulty!) and there was wine while folks waited patiently in line for me to sign books. Mary Szpur was there, and she took a bunch of photos and sent them to me and I’ll post them below, plus a few taken by Sherry Kent—thank you both!
We finished up at around 9:30pm, and I decided the right thing to do was to drive home to avoid getting waylaid by Winter Storm Gerri, and I’m glad I did. Gerri also caused us to cancel my event in Kenosha Wisconsin at Blue House Books (we will reschedule!) and to change the Milwaukee event at Boswell Books to virtual. So you can all attend that one if you like! The link for that is here. It is 7:30 Eastern time or 6:30 Central time. See you there!
Bless all the good people who plan and attend book signings. They are the greatest force in the art of publishing words for compensation.
How nice so many respect your example to wear masks! So wise at this time of year, with travel and strangers and schedules, oh my! Glad you’re back home here....ahead of the blizzard! 😊
