Six days until The Waters splashes down!

Looking Forward to seeing you all on my book tour. I wanted to post my fabulous graphic again. Thank you, Meredith of W.W. Norton for this! Local folks should note that I will be visiting three Kalamazoo bookstores, and so it will be easy to find me on the home front. As for Oxford, Mississippi, I can only wish I were staying longer in the warm climate. As for New York City, I’ll be there twenty-four hours total—kind of crazy. And in February there is lots more book fun planned.

If any of you want an update on the computer, we are back to having access to all files, even if saving them is an inelegant process. If any of you want an update on the furnace situation, we got an impossibly high bid from one company to install ductwork in half the house (we did remove the asbestos-coated boiler pipes, safely). A second company was going to come and give us a bid, and they called and said they would instead do it for time and labor and didn’t want to give us a bid. So we are probably going to work with our fabulous friend Bob and do as much of the work ourselves as we can. We should have figured all along that that is what we’ll do. That’s our style, that’s our budget.

We just took in a load of scrap metal from taking out the old furnace, and we got $153, and that is nothing to sneeze at. We especially enjoy the “irony extrusion” category.

Then I was out taking a walk and I found the worst T-shirt ever on the side of the road. Normally I would walk past a T-shirt, but for some reason I kicked it open and found this T-shirt. Yes, I carried it home pinched in two fingers. Yes I rinsed it in the hottest water and scrubbed my hands. Yes I then washed it in the washing machine. Yes, I don’t know why, but the shirt was so awful that I couldn’t let it remain there.

Forgive me. Does this mean I have to get an adult rating for this blog post? And what will I do with the shirt now? Please advise. Until tomorrow, friends! Good night, America!
